Thanks to all your help for the advice on doing my drum to disc conversion!
I have never felt anything so good in that car, the stopping is *PERFECT* nice and gradual slowing and it also doesnt do the 'nosedive' as Ive heard so many of you talk about.
I just converted the fronts, bt its fine. I went from manual drums to POWER disc and it is a major difference. I would recomend everyone who wants to do this to look around and stray away from these big expensive ($700-$800) disc conversion kits... I dug up the spindles from a junk yard for $100, new rotors for $80, pads and calipers $100 about, and new MC with booster for $180.. whats that, like.. $460? how glorious. and it only took me about 3hrs.
Lke i said, its definately worth it and keeps your legs from getting sore from driving around town all day with those man. drums.
Thanks again to everyone who helped!

I got the parts off a 69 chevelle. Including the prop. valve. I used the same lines that were on my 68, but had to get an adapter for the outlet on the prop valve to the original line... dont know if thats the proper way but it sure works fantastic.
Thanks again to all

Dumb question here, but I have power drums all-around. Would my existing proportioning valve work if I converted to front disc?

You will have to replace the pwr drum valve if you convert to disc. The pwr drum valve only distributes fluid evenly to all 4 wheels. you nee a prop valve to get a 70-30 split in the braking.

Jbsmooth1, I did the conversion and bought the combination valve from a 72 Chevelle through Ground Up. This eliminated the prop valve (they should have them too) and I'm very happy with the brakes. I modified my drum spindles for $0 by machining off about 1/2 from the boss. Probably have less than $350 in the whole thing.
