I have a 1964 El Camino with all of the "SS" stuff like trim, buckets and 4speed with console. What did chevy call these since they were not called Super Sports?

Gary, Is your response a guess or you don't know since you finished with a question mark?

They are "Customs" and most ElCaminos of the original production in 64/65 were that. The additional options available on the Customs were pretty much the same as for all other Chevelle styles then. Custom basically meant carpet instead of mats, wheel well chrome trim, drip rail chrome, chrome rocker panel covers and bucket seats and consoles were optioned for any of them.

Thanks for your responses. The 80 year old guy I bought it from said it was called a "Super Custom" but I dont find anything on the vehicle or on the 25 year old title that called it that.

Ditto on the above comments! Except I believe 4-spd was v8 only. Elcamino (several) owner for 35+ years.

The 'Custom' or 'Deluxe', depending on which GM literature you read, is based on the Malibu series (135/136) where the base El Camino was based on the 300 Deluxe series (133/134). Except for the body style the Malibu series El Camino was no different really than the Malibu wagon as far as trim went. Since the El Camino was also referred to as a pickup or sedan-pickup, seats were limited to vinyl since they were designed to be a work horse like a wagon.

This might be a good example here of why you don't take what us old guys say as gospel, just because we were around back then. You've all heard the old saying, "The older I get, the faster I was." We do try though. I think it was about 1968 before they built SS el Caminos even though they could be had with the 396. Don't quote me on that. ;)

My 66 came with the total trim package including tinted windows w/o air. Title says it's a 65 because it was sold in 65 but the body don't lie.
