Can anyone tell me what this box is? 5686555.I'm hoping it's a 2 1/2 turn box instead of the 40 turn lock to lock box thats in my 67 now....Thanks in advance

Where did you get the part number from? Is it a cast number on the steering gear housing? If it is a cast number, it has nothing to do with the actual power gear assembly. It is a casting number. The gear comes into the plant as a raw casting and has one part number. The casting is machined into a couple of different gear housing part numbers. Those machined housings then have special valves, travel restrictor rings, different rack and pitman shafts. These new gear assemblies each receive a new part number (as well as a two letter broadcast code).

We have a fairly complete listing of fast ratio gears by two letter broadcast codes. Otherwise, you have to run a brief test to determine the ratio of the gear that you have.
