I am having problems with the rear caliper brackets that came in a four wheel disc kit from Classic Parts Products. It is not allowing the caliper to sit over the rotor, off by about an inch. I know that the axle housings on Camaros and Novas are different than the Chevelles, such as the shock mounts and spring mounts are located in different spots. Are there any other differences? The reason I ask, is that I looked all over CPP's web site and they only sell rear disk brakes for Camaros and Novas. Even though I told them I had a 68 Chevelle 12 bolt, I'm thinking that they figured that all 12 bolt axle housings are the same and sent me the kit anyway. Are they right? If anyone wants to see pictures of either the brackets or how far off the calipers are, let me know and I will email them to you. Thanks for any help.

All 10 and 12 bolt housing end flanges are the same and I suspect that the "hang out" of axles should be the same. Have you tried mounting the brakcets on both sides of the flanges? Keep in mind that the pads float in the caliper so a little misadjustment one sde or the other is acceptable and taken up in the caliper. Another thing to think about is that not all stock axles will fit inside of the rotors. You may have to take the axles down to a machine shop and turn a bit off of the ouside diameter of the axle flanges. Shoot me the pics of you choose.

Thanks guys. FO_FDYFO, do you sell those brake brackets too? I did notice that Master Power Brakes has rear brake caliper brackets simular to yours. They are a two piece bracket also. But I don't think they will sell them separate from a kit.

It's not a detail shot, but maybe this might help -

It's an MP kit. The caliper mounts are 2 pieces of 5/16" plate (approx.). One of them is about a 2/3rds circle that bolts to 3 of the backing plate/flange holes. The other is the actual caliper mount. There are 4 possible ways of bolting it together - different combos of inside or outside of either part.

Thanks John. I think this is what I need. I emailed MP and asked them if they sell the bracket by itself. I hope so. I'm looking at my current setup and it looks like if the bracket lined up directly over the axle flange, then everything would line up correctly with the rotor and caliper. But if the bracket is on either side of the flange then you are off. Thanks for everyones reply.

Craig,
If MP doesn't there is a guy on Ebay that does. Do a search for rear disc brakes and you'll find him.
