: Something interesting on roll centers

I been thinking about this whole tall/stock spindle thing, and was trying to remember what was bugging me about it. Tonight I remembered that there are a couple of options available to raise roll venter without changing the spindles.

Take a look here: http://www.stockcarproducts.com/susp7.htm
All the way at the bottom of the page, there are 2 different adjustable upper ball joints. One bolt in for our cars, and one screw in Chrysler type for those who switched to that type of upper ball joint when building new control arms.

Another way to change the roll center (if that's what you want to do, not saying anything either way right now) would be to cut the upper a-arm mount off the frame and lower it. SCP and Speedway Motors both have upper a arm plates to weld onto the frame. A little trimming, a little molten metal and voila! Roll center wherever you want it.

Their are many different BJ options to help lower your car and lower the RC of the car. Some are as much as 1/2" longer than stock. And so you likely could extend your stock spindle as much as an 1" just by buying different ball joints. Just to add a few dozen more options to your front suspension choices. :D

Just a comment, taller spindles RAISE the roll center.
