Anyone who has done the Caprice spindle swap - did you try to use the stock upper A-arm with no alignment clips on the upper bolts (that point to the headers) at first, or did you automatically put some spacers in? I tried just for kicks today, as I am 95% there on the swap. The top of the wheel tilts out a ridiculous amount, even with the offset upper shafts from Moog.
Just wondering how many spacers people had to use on average with the offset shafts and tall spindles, so I know how many to get. Thanks!

Did you install them opposite of how they normally would be installed?

Yes I did - with the "wheel side" facing the engine.
pauly,
You have just figured out why some people say you need a whole bunch of shims in there to get it right! It varies from car to car depending on how much frame sag the car has... more sag equals less shims, less sag equals more shims!
If you have the offset inner shafts installed 'backwards' of their stated installation orientation, you should be able to see the offset going towards the engine. With that, you are still going to need a significant amount of shims to align the car correctly, but also remember that now you are probably going to want a slightly more aggresive alignment that actually has the top of the tire tilted out just a bit. You really don't want the tire straight up and down!
Also, be sure the whole weight of the car is on the wheels!
