It's an A-body!!!! (boo hiss) :hurray:

1970 Olds Swapping in a Chevy 12 bolt. (but this is about the suspension part)
Cars Purpose = Family Pro-Touring vehicle.
Street driver, nothing crazy, going to see 400-500hp tops.
No weekly drag racing or autocrossing. Getting a 6 speed implant also.

I'm just trying to find out what people think should be probably be "refreshed" with new parts during this swap.
The rear end is completely rebuilt , good to go, just need supporting hardware refreshing opinions. :beers:

Upper Control Arms + bushings ? (http://rover.ebay.com/ar/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?mpt=61420032&adtype=1&size=1x1&type=3&campid=5336121898&toolid=10001 found these (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?type=3&campid=5336121898&toolid=10001&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Febaymotors%2Fws%2 FeBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D220531252422%26 viewitem%3D%26sspagename%3DSTRK%253AMEWAX%253AIT))
Springs ? (not sure if they would be recommended or not)
Shocks ? (Bilsteins or looking for recommendations low cost)
Anything else ??
Was thinking of getting those inexpensive Adjustable UCA's but not sure if they
include the differential side rubber bushings or not. Don't want SC&C or Hotchkis
level stuff, just factory or slightly better.

Anyways, any info would be appreciated so I can round up all these parts so when the rear gets here I am ready to go. Thanks.

Hello
Seeing how you are going for a pro touring set up. I would suggest looking into a Eibach spring and like you mentioned above about the Bilsteins will work great. But I would suggest when you lower a vehicle to go with a adjustable upper control arm to allow you to adjust the pinion angle. And to also help with handling we also offer a front and rear sway bar package. Below is a link to show you what UMI Performance has to offer!

If you have any other questions feel free to ask! Made right here in the USA!

Thanks

on the upper rear control arm, I'd use new Rubber bushings in the rearend housing and either stock upper arms with new rubber bushings (budget) or go to an adjustible arm with a spherical joint (best choice). Currie's Johnny Joint, Edelbrock or UMI's Roto-joint...

I like the Eibach Springs on My Chevelle.

IMO, especially with a stick-shift, I'd add the extra frame stiffeners/braces/connectors (connecting the UCA and LCA pivot points on the frame-side)... This is even more important IF you upgrade those upper control arms from stock...

If just cruising around having fun, the stock upper arms should be okay... Not ideal for balls-out handling and no adjustibility though...

I like the Eibach Springs on My Chevelle.

Got any pics of before and after ?

Stock rear replacements are only ~$75 and Eibachs seem to be front and rear for ~$260
Almost a $200 increase but front and rear.....so I'll have to stew on that one.
Not really looking to LOWER the car for cornering at high speeds or anything.

I've got a 78 Camaro I put big money into for road racing in mind with Hotchkis TVS, SC&C this and that etc etc.
Don't need a 2nd one, so I'm just looking to keep it slightly better then stock.

It's one of those things where I know I can dump a couple thousand in upgrades easily, but trying to avoid that.
Just looking to improve it slightly or refresh it.

Brad, since UMI is a sponsor of this site, is there a discount for Team Chevelle members?Yeah the UCA's they sell seem pretty nice , I'd be interested in knowing as well.

I'm also interested in these Poly bushings for the rear housing.
I heard varying opinions though on OEM Rubber VS Poly causing binding issues.
Any thoughts on this ??

I'm sure we can work something out for you :)

Just let us know what you would be interested it.

Also we have had great results and positive feedback on our new Roto-Joints.. they are doing very well.

Hope that helps!
