I have a pulsing in the brakes when pressure to pedal is applied medium to hard, was told (not by this site smile.gif ) that it was due to warped rotors. Replaced the front rotors and disc, with Bindix rotors and Bendix Titanium Metallic disc pads. After an expensive replacement, little to no improvement. I didn't have the new rotors turned, is this really necessary? Is it possible that its a bearing. Is it possible it is in the rear brakes? Thanks for any help you can give. DTV

Your rear drums are warped.Have them turned and it should fix your pulsing.

In the future, you need to determine if the problem is in the front or rear. The best way to do this is to drive the car down a deserted stretch of highway or on some back roads and SLOWLY apply the emergency brake while holding the release mechanism. (It takes a little coordination smile.gif ) Doing this applies the rear brakes only. If it vibrates, the problem is with the rear brakes. If not, it's the front brakes that are the problem.

Is the pulsation in the steering wheel or does it just shake the car? I'd go through the rear brakes and at the least, have the drums turned at a good machine shop if you think it may be the rears. Replace the shoes and hardware, too, since they're cheap! If the pulsation is in the wheel, I'd take the rotors back to where you bought them and tell them they were warped out of the package (not sure they'll care much, though). Then, have the rotors trued as well. Even new rotors can be warped out of the box. I know they're not supposed to be, but I've seen it and it's an enormous pain in the you know what to have to the job twice, but it's best to have it done right. Good luck!
