My 71 SS BB has a mushey (mushie?) ride. It looks as if the springs are the originals. The car sits too low in the back and I have ordered new rear springs from Year One with the intent of both raising the car some and improving the ride. The shocks have been painted grey but I cannot tell how old they are. Will these new springs improve the firmness of the ride? The car sits good in front and I don't want to change these springs if I don't have to. Any thoughts on the spring issue and also what type of shocks should be on this weekend cruiser? Thanks for any help.

My car rides the same way, and I feel that it's because of the thirty year old coils. I think a new set of springs should fix her right up.

A new set of shocks will also do wonders for the ride.

New springs and shocks will help a lot. As for what shocks, I am using KYB GR-2s. I am happy with them.
