: help ,help!!!!
dcg67bu Dec 13th, 04, 11:19 AM i need help. i'm currently doing a frontend bushing kit and when i disassembled the front end, the drivers side lower control has the oval bushing in it. all the rest are round and the kit i bought is round bushings. i am in desperate need of this control arm. the car is my daily driver and is down until i get the problem resolved. does anyone have this part that would be willing to get rid of it. or could someone point me in the right direction on finding one. thanks for your help. please email me at dcg67bu@yahoo.com.
Herb Dec 13th, 04, 12:13 PM Did you get one?
dcg67bu Dec 13th, 04, 12:24 PM no i haven't had any luck yet. i guess i should have mentioned it is for a 1967 malibu. do you have any place i could start looking?
chevelless1 Dec 13th, 04, 12:28 PM just go to the parts store and get some oval bushings
elcamino72 Dec 13th, 04, 2:40 PM I second chevelless1's advice ... just go buy the correct bushings.
Herb Dec 13th, 04, 2:44 PM If all you need are a pair of oval bushings, they're available anywhere, NAPA, GM dealer, just about any parts store. They aren't expensive. $6.95 at NPD. If you need poly, you can get one or two of those also.
If you need a lower control arm for a 67, you can probably get one from a GM dealer. I don't think stock arms are that expensive. If not, I'm sure OPG or GU has them. By the time you wait until a MEMBER (No offense but you registered in March but still aren't a $20 member but now need help in a hurry. How does that work?) volunteers a freebie, then you pay for and arrange shipping, you could probably have bought a new one. I don't understand your dilemma.
sinned Dec 13th, 04, 3:12 PM WOW Herb, kinda slamming the non-paying contributers huh? If I paid to belong to every forum I contribute to I would have to take a second job.
Finding round bushing arms is getting more difficult, they highly desireable by roundy-round and road course guys (round arms are easier to buy soild/Teflon bushings for). I also suggest just buying some Moog/TRW rubber bushings downtown for the oval arm.
Herb Dec 13th, 04, 3:25 PM You're probably right Denny. I ought to bite my tongue a little more. We're all here to help and you certainly do more than your part to help us all out. I'll TRY to tone it down a little.
My apologies to the Team.
dcg67bu Dec 13th, 04, 3:28 PM look herb, i'm not looking for a handout, and is it really any of your concern if i've paid or not. i'm willing to buy a control arm if i have to, i have pretty much exhausted my local parts places and no has one, so i thought i would look for some helpful advice from the forum, thats what it's here for right? i dont really want rubber bushing if i dont have to . i spent money on a poly kit and would like to use poly bushings thoughout. if i can get those from the parts house then great. i'll try that. thanks for the help.
Herb Dec 13th, 04, 3:51 PM Yeah, I took it in the shorts for giving you some stuff. Rightly so. Must be in a biorythum thing. sorry
If you need help finding or buying them, let me know and I'll be glad to try to locate them here around DC. I don't think they're a problem to get here.
nofun Dec 13th, 04, 4:58 PM DCg
I have a driver side lower arm from a 65, if
interested e-mail me at nofun2@yahoo.com
sinned Dec 13th, 04, 5:33 PM DC, check the local parts house, some carry poly stuff. I think Moog has a poly option for the popular part numbers.
No problem Herb.......we're all Chevelle people right. :D
Tom's 68 Dec 13th, 04, 6:11 PM I've got a pair (actually a few pairs)
they are 68's though
I always thought they all fit from 64 to 72
but on another thread a couple of weeks ago john muha said they don't cross over
they look the same and I have used them on all the different years
if everyone thinks they will fit your car then E-mail me and we can discuss the details for payment
(I know that this is not the right place to sell stuff, I am just trying to help out, also if you would want to trade that would be just as well)
