I'm wondering what the differences between the 70 and the 71,72 rear valance is. I have a 70 that I'll be putting a 71 rear bumper onto, and searching craigslist this morning, I found an original valance for a 71-72, and I am wondering what the differences between the two styles are. Can a 71 rear bumper work with a 70 valance or will it look "Goofy"

Yes there is a big difference in the two valances. The difference is were the valance attaches to the rear bumper under the liscense plate. I would guess that the differences between the 70 bumper and the 71,72 bumper in this area is what makes the attachment point different. Otherwise the rest of the valance is the same. Long ago I tried to install a 71,72 valance on a 70 bumper and the holes that attach the valance to the center of the bumper were not even close. If you look at the two valances next to each other it is plain to see that the two parts are different.

:yes: I didn't know this until it was too late and now have a nice painted valence up in my rafters that I can't use.
