the door latch (or catch) on my car (71) falls some times after the door is opened, and you have to pick it up so the door will shut. plus there is extra slop in the button.

are these latches rebuildable?
i know you can buy new ones for about 60-70 bucks, but they are repop and prob not USA, so im unsure of the quality.

anyone have any pics or experience that would be awesome.

thanks

I used a reproduction latch on my 69. Worked great and operates smoother that the 40 year old original. I'm pretty sure it was an OER part.

Is the door dropping when you open it ?
Thats what it sounds like you are trying to say. If thats the case you need to rebuild your door hinges too.

thanks guys.

not he hinges are brand new as of a week or so ago.
the latch has been screwed up for 9yrs now.

the latch that goes over the striker to make it lock in place so the door doesnt open is whats my issue.

sometimes you open the door, and the latch arm that goes over the striker acts as though the button/handle is still in and it falls. you have to stick your finger in and lift it back up and close the door.
