Rubs where? Side of the tires, top? How big are the wheels and tires?

It rubs on the bolt that holds the outer and inter together. So that is the top outside of the tire. I am running a 235/60/15. I am not sure on the rim with 7 or 8" wide. thanks

Front end looks super low. Did you do that? What does it have for springs? Is there anything not stock up front?

You probably just need stiffer springs to accomidate that drop.

Looks mean, by the way. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

No I did not do that as far as I know it has stock springs. Can you tell me a good spring to use?? how much lower than stock would you say it is? I would not mind it being a inch or so higher. Thanks for your help

From the picture, it's hard to say how much lower than stock it is. Stock, the car should sit pretty level (if the front and rear tires are the same height). Looks like maybe a 3 inch drop, if the back end is stock.

I have Hotchkis springs. They drop the car 1" to 1.5".

Take a good look at the wheel in the wheel well. An 8 inch rim up front might be a problem anyway. Not sure how big a wheel you can fit up there. Turn the wheel all the way both ways and just check clearances.

The rear has air shock that are aired up to 100 P.S.I because the rear tires would rub on the lip in the fender. So it is probley over stock.

B.T.W how do you like your hotchick springs? and what tires are you running on your 69? Which is very nice too. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I like the springs. They are nice and stiff. The car doesn't bottom out and the ride isn't too rough for my 24 year old body. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

However, I plan to make the car perform better for the track and the stiff springs will have to go, in that case.

I am running 235/60/R15 on a 6" wheel up front. I haven't actually looked up into my wheel well to see where you are rubbing, do you think the narrower wheel would fix your problem? Even if it's not the best or cheapest solution, it'd be a pain to change your springs only to have the tires still rub. Worth double checking.

Also, be aware that air shocks can be a problem. The shock mounts are not meant to support the back of the car and can break. If you need to keep the rear end up, a better solution would be air bags. They leave the forces on the spring perches where they belong.

I have 15x8 rims w/ 235/60 tires on the front of my 70 elky and Hotchkis 1" drop springs and they don't rub.

I used to have "Cut" springs in the front and it sat very similar to yours and it rubbed like crazy. Even rubbed when i went down to a 225/60 front tire. New springs cured my rubbing!

Was taken right after i put in the new springs. I still had the 225/60s on the front. Since then i have swapped back to the 235s and still no rubs.
The 235s lifted the front approx 1/2" from the 225s.

What back spaceing are you guys running on the front? Thanks for telling me about the rear air shocks. I will have to get that fix so I dont have to air them up that much. I think that my springs are just be old. Nice Elky AHSOM70.

Actually, I think I have 7" wheels. I took a look on American Racing's site to see what the back spacing is and they don't list 6" wheels in that style. My reciept for them says thay are 8" smile.gif I know that isn't the case.

So anyway, AR says the wheels have a -6 back spacing. I have no idea what they measure them in. centimeters?
