Well, the frame and undercarriage of my car are now painted.
Used a DeVillbis spray gun model that was recommended to me by a couple of forum members.

The car is originally from New Mexico, and the frame and floor pans are solid.
Here's a couple of close-up pictures I took of the floor pans while the underside was being cleaned...

After all the desert type dirt was scraped and scrubbed off of the bottom, the metal was solid and in excellent shape.

Here's a picture (looking from the rear of the car) of the underside after being painted today...

I have everything removed from under the car...rear end, gas tank, exhaust, fuel line, brake line, etc., and I had the body jacked up about a foot off of the frame so every bit of the frame and underside could be cleaned and painted.

I feel I've now rounded a corner with the car, and can now begin installing all brand new parts...new suspension, new rear end, new stainless gas tank, disc brakes, etc., etc.

I think this next phase of the project will be the fun part.

-Greg

You have to love the desert southwest for these old cars. Mine was the same way. Verry well preserved, with all the ruber turned to dust.

Nice work. Enjoy the next phase.

Thanks guys for the comments and compliments.

Rob, I'll post more pictures as I'm building the car.
Also, I've been taking pictures during the whole process of working on this car...and I'll continue doing that until my project is complete. I'm going to upload them all shortly (and continue uploading them) to either a personal website or my Photo Bucket account, and I'll post a link in my signature when I do so.

Thanks John.
I used a DeVilbiss Finish Line gun with a 1.8 mm tip. The gun came with 4 tips and a pressure gauge attachment.

After I removed the engine and transmission, (but before I decided to lift the body entirely off of the frame), I initially cleaned and painted the front part of the frame...forward of the firewall.
I brushed on POR-15 Chassis Coat Black for that. It went down great...self leveling and didn't leave a single brush stroke. Looked really good, I have a picture of it out on the forum somewhere.

After I decided to lift the body about a foot off of the frame, I painted the rest of the frame with brushed on POR-15 Chassis Coat Black (but not the rest of the underbody).

I then spray painted the entire underbody and frame with Eastwood 2K Ceramic Chassis Black Satin, which came inthis kit (www.amazon.com/Ceramic-Chassis-Black-Satin Primer/dp/B001E1GW56) which included the paint and epoxy primer.

I paid a 17 year old neighbor kid (and car nut) to scrub and clean the frame and undercarriage. He did a great job too.
I was originally going to let him paint the undercarriage also, but I decided to do that myself to ensure that it was done properly.
Plus, I was chomping at the bit to use my new spray gun. ;)

-Greg
