On my 77 Monte I'd like to upgrade to a newer style M/C to get rid of the ugly cast iron piece. Is there some thing that will interchange? Maybe something from the 80's with alum. body & plastic resovoir.
I'd assume that if I found one with the right bore sizes & mounting it would work.

Jim,
The aluminum MC you want to go with needs to be modified to fit in your booster.
The O.D. of the rear MC bore needs to be chucked up on a lathe and turned down. At least thats what you have to do for the '64-'72 cars. Also, the fittings may feature metric bubble flare seats and be on the wrong side of the engine bay.
If you are really wanting to do this a MC from late model caprice has a 1 1/8" - 1 1/4" bore depending on application.

Thanks Joe. Have you done this? As far as the lathe work that's no prob. I'm thinking I should find the bore sizes & go to the salvage yard & find what I need. Anybody else have any ideas.
Thanks

Jim,
Yes, I've done it before. You'll also want to grab the removable reservoir off a B-body or F-body ('82-'92) as its tilted in design.

Might go hit the salvage yard today & see what I can find.

Jim,
Sounds like you've gotten the hang of it. Just keep in mind that you'll more than likely you'll need to turn down the O.D., metric vs. SAE fittings & what side the fittings are facing.
