I just finished putting the rear drum brakes together on my '72 and have a question.

The parts kit came with the oval rubber plugs to plug the access holes for the self adjusters, but there are no holes in my backing plates to put them in. Were they left out for some reason and if so, how do I release the shoes when it comes time to change them?

The hole may be in the brake drums but never punched through. smile.gif

There should be a 'knock-out' in either the backing plate or the brake drum itself.
