I have a 1988 Chev one ton pickup that has sat for about a year. We use the truck to pull our camper. Got in it today to check it out. Everything seems find till I took it for a short drive down the road. I noticed that it was pulling to the left. So I slowed down put it in netural and let it coast to a stop. I could tell by the way the truck stopped rolling that he front drivers capiler was not releasing. Drove it back home and felt around the front disk, it was hot!
Its only the front drives side. What could cause this and what do I need to do inorder to fix it.
The hose leading to the caliper seem fine. Could I take the caliper apart and clean the piston up with some scottbrit.
Thanks

The hose can be clogged up even though it looks fine on the outside. I would pull it and check it by having someone step on the brake pedal to see if fluid is flowing out of it.
Make sure the wheel bearings on that rotor are in good shape, and then pull the caliper and rebuild it. No need to sand or scotchbrite the piston unless it's rusted and if that's the case, I'd replace the piston or opt for a rebuilt caliper.

The other thing is the caliper pins themselves. If they are rusty, the caliper will stick.

Thanks Guys
I had planed jacking the drivers side up and cracking the bleeder open to see if the pads would release. If that did not release the pads then I was going to remove the hose and just go ahead and replace it on both sides.
I had not through of the caliper pins be rusty, good idea.

JMO< Here is what I would do, Replace the calipers with loaded ones from the local parts store of your choice and the front hoses. Take the rotors with you to see if they are still OK and get some brake fluid also. I recently did this to my 86 Monte Carlo SS, I am sure it still had the original ones on it and I replaced the master cylinder too. Your call, I like to know that my brakes are gonna perform when I step on the pedal. :D
