I just installed an vega box into my 72 elky and the pitman arms will not interchange obviuosly, and the lenghts are different. I am building a new column for racing so the splines end to the steering wheel is not an issue.
But what can be used or substituted for this delema? will an S10 pitman arm fit the vega spline into the box or am I just spending money for nothing? Should I make a new arm? also, my old p/s pitman arm has a 1 inch offset and this could be made but the spline area needs to be addressed also.
Any help would be great and thanks to all who reply, this is a dgra car so no street parts will be on it.

Check with some of the street rodder sights. They put Vega steering boxes in street rods left and right. However, they are usually using Mustang II front end setups.

Steve is on the right track you need to get a copy of Street Rodder Magazine and that will lead you to the vendor you want. Before buying my Chevelle I was building a 32 5 Window coupe which used a Vega box and a P&J straight axle. I also had to fing a pitman arm and there were more than a few choices in length and offset. As for the 32,a guy in Arizona wanted it alot worse than myself and he paid me enough to buy and rebuild my Chevelle. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
