My car got 198? Cuttlas sprindles and it broke a lower ball joint in half where the thread ends . put the ball joint back and took the car to the paint shop .

I was wondering wy this broke in that place ,so I went to the auto parts and bought a 198? cuttlas ball joint to mesured with the broken one and found the cuttlas it is sharper than the chevelle so this sprindles will not fit in the chevelle ball joints?,This may cause the ball joint to get me in this body fender disaster ?

I got the car back front the paint shop yesterday and do not want to move it from the garage .

Two days before this I put in new headers and I THANKS GOD this happend near home and not at the track trying to get the 12'e/t.

What year car do you have? If you have late model spindles on an older A body then you have the wrong lower ball joints, the taper is a different size. You need to get late model ball joints and have the O.D. of the ball joint turned down .080" to fit properly.

You need upper ball joints for whatever year spindles you have, they will bolt right up to your upper control arms. You need lower ball joints for whatever spinldes you are using, you need to have them turned down to 68-72 A body specs (.080" should be enough).

Taking them down .080" was too loose on the last 2 sets I did. I may remove less next time, say .077" for a tighter fit.
