Anyone know what compressor this is, and how old it is?

Thats a compressor that was used on alot of the aftermarket
a/c systems that the dealers or auto shops used. It looks alot like Fords oem units..They took a ton of horse power as did most of the units of that time. I'd guess late 60's or 70's. Just sold a 69 Ford truck that had almost same style unit and it still worked Jay

That looks like a 'York' compressor, commonly used on Fords in the 60's-70s.

GREETINGS Jay

Greetings back. Just moved here 7 months ago and love it.

Could I use everything else and swap out for a newer compressor?

I would up grade to more modern system that uses r134 freon. Lot smaller compressor and works better. cleaner look also. My friend has a 69 Camaro that he did that, mounted it low on engine and ran hoses behind fender and it is so clean. Does yours have a in dash system or under dash unit in car..New systems fits in dash and can be vented
thru dash also for cleaner look. Where do you live in Arizona?

I had a '68 Chevelle with a Sears underdash unit and it had that same big York compressor. It worked great even after converted to 134A. They take some horespower to turn, but on a cruiser you'll never notice. If it works good, run it.
