: 1 1/8" Z28 sway bar question
70_FathomBlueMalibu Sep 24th, 04, 5:11 AM I just won a 1 1/8" sway bar from an '80 Z28 off of Ebay. I gave $35 to my door, which I figure is higher than if I could find one locally at the boneyard, however I've been unable to find one now that I needed it.
Anyway, I already have the correct size PST polygraphite sway bar bushings. My question is: which end links do I need to use? The old ones from my '70 or one from a Camaro. I don't believe that the Ebay bar will have any end links with it (as none were pictured), but I have a set of end links from a '77 Camaro front end that I pulled for a friend a while back.
Any help would be appreciated. I'm interested to see what a PST polygraphite Super Front End kit and a fatter front bar will do for the car. Thanks!

I have the same sway bar as you.Just Suspension is nearby, told him what bar I had.He just looked up Chevelle links. They fit fine,no problems.
elcamino72 Sep 25th, 04, 9:38 AM You'll need endlinks for a 1970 Chevelle ... the Camaro endlinks will not work, sorry.
70_FathomBlueMalibu Sep 25th, 04, 4:31 PM Cool, I'll just use my old endlinks. Thanks!

BTW, did you all know that end link height determines sta-bar effectivness, just something to think about. You could run the stock 7/8" bar and very short links with about the same effect as the 1.25" bar and the 6" links the Chevelle comes with.

I think I have to disagree with you on the short links. The use short of links would give you more travel in one direction and less in the other.
sinned Sep 26th, 04, 3:21 AM Uuummmm, no. Sta-bar effectiveness is maximized by having the ends of the bar level with the ground. Since I highly doubt anybody is checking/tuning their current bars I was suggesting that a properly tuned smaller bar would result in better handling than an oversized ill-fitting bar.
On another note, sta-bar are not designed to become the component that determines roll stiffness, the springs should do that. The shocks and sta-bar compliment the already properly set up suspension system. I know I have stated this before, maybe I should put in my sig line. The sta-bar is to tune with.
Ralph67 Sep 26th, 04, 12:55 PM Use the ones that get it as close to level as possible, just make sure of your clearence through full travel. You will definately notice a difference.Ralph
