Does anyone know how to retrieve a vehicle history from the DMV what forms do I use?

Thanks to privacy laws in CA, it ain't gonna happen. IF you know a friendly LEO, they have that capability. But, it is unlikely they will do it. I have tried. :(

About the only time they will give you vehicle history is when they are finding an error in paperwork that has surfaced. I worked with a guy who moved to AZ from CA and found that a motorcycle he tried to register had a laundered title. He had a clear CA title for a vehicle that once had a salvage title from another state.

That's just great, I was trying to get more info on my Chevelle. Man they make it real hard to prove you have a real SS without the proper doc's.

I doubt that a title trace would give you the info your looking for. A lot of Chevelles don't have SS on the title.

Records are not typically kept going back that far. Besides, even if you did end up getting those kind of records. They wont tell you any real concrete evidense your car was or wasnt an SS. The only thing that can tell that is an actual build sheet that would have been physically removed from the vehicle or a protecto plate.

What year is your Chevelle? That would be a start in determining if it's a real SS.

It's a 1970 Chevelle, I've checked all the tell tell signs of a real SS and they all come up positive. I just need to find a build sheet.
1. Boxed rocker arms.
2. ragged or dog eared stearing.
3. Brake booster with proportioned valve.
4. Even vent and vacuum canister and lines for 70 SS cars.
5. Cluster panel.

What are some more tell tell signs?
