What would be the best choice for an adhesive for attaching the rubber SS pad on the rear bumper of a 70 SS ? Had the bumper rechromed and should I scotch brite the chrome where the pad will be adhered to.? Thanks in Advance.

3M Super weatherstrip adhesive or DF tape. Scotchbrite won't touch chrome and if it does you need a new chrome shop.

Thanks Raven. Instead of scotch brite ? something else or just leave it shiny and trust the adhesive?

Impeccably clean. W&G remover, lacquer thinner.

Use the Super weather strip adhesive as well as the degreaser. I used a DA with 400 grit and lightly sanded for some bite. Then, I used some 2/4's and some other small strips of wood, along with some moving blankets and ratchet straps to hold the pad tight against the bumper. You want that pad tight so that water does not get behind it. Probably not a bid deal on most cars that never get driven, but my car sees rain now and then.

I also used thr 3m weatherstrip adhesive.I positioned the bumper pad on the bumper (off the car)exactly where I wanted it,Outlined the pad with masking tape,Adhesive on both pieces and let it set for a bit, started on one end and slowly layed it in place. Then I used a 2x2 piece of wood the length of the pad in the center of the pad and used 4 large "C" clamps to bind it for a day or two.

Great. Thanks to all of you for all the advice. That's what I am going to do also.
