If it's not to heavy, I don't see a problem.

In my 95 Silverado with the O.D. tranny. I would tow in 3rd. gear. ( this was by the book depending on Tlr. Weight. ) I hope some tranny guys will step in and help. I believe FOURTH gear or O.D. is the " weak link " in a 700R4.
I would tow in 4 th. gear on the level, The pull it down in 3rd. for the hills. The big question ???????? What is the weight of the Tlr. That will be most important. Also what type of 700 in is your car.
My 700R4 has been in my 70 SS- 468 Sta. Wgn. for years. It is from a 2WD/ BB P/U truck.
You are at the right place for tranny info. Dont know much about automatic transmissions, But I do know my first 700R4 in my wagon lasted almost 2 hours. I made a $988.00 Miss--Steak/ Screwed up/ Dumb Azz/ Dont grow up and be like me, Do it right the first time.

One thing often overlooked....can ther car stop what it has gotten moving?
Non-powered drums or nice big disc brakes?

If the trailer has power brakes it is a moot point somewhat, this is of course that you are positive that the brakes on the trailer will never fail you. The question really isnt the engine and trans those are fine, it is your rearend gearing. If you have really high gearing you wanna make sure you get into a gear on your trans that will keep your engine RPM up enough to keep the torque converter spinning fast enough to keep the line pressures where they need to be since the line pressures are adjusted by the TV cable.

Thats a very good point. I recently moved and used my 06 chevy tahoe to pull my 64 chevelle. With brakes that are practically new I still had a hard time stopping fast in traffic.
