Installed an AGR quick ratio during the resto of my 67. The FrontRunner serpentine has that little Mullins pump on it and I'm wondering if that is what's causing the groaning from the steering box when I turn at low speed.
If so, what pump would I upgrade to? Even if I have to slam dunk the FrontRunner and go with March or something like that, it's worth it to me for the peace of mind that my new power steering box is getting fed right.

Here is what I would do. I would get in contact with AGR and see how much pressure their box requires (probably around 1500psi), I would then contact the pumps manufacurer and see how much pressure it puts out. The pump has to put our more pressure than the box or you'll feel "skips" in the power assist.

Mike-
I too have the agr box and a frontrunner system. however i got my pump from kyle at detroit speed. are you sure you have bled the pump and box enough. follow the agr box instructions. wheels off ground and turn wheel back and forth to "burp" air from lines. i ended up doing this for about 15 minutes with the car not running then for about five minutes with the car running and wheels still off the ground. also make sure there are no kinks in the lines. i have -6 lines and one was kinked and therefore collapsed inside. i had to replace. just suggestions to try. tommy

Thanks guys. I'll try the AGR setup first. I imagine that was not the way it was done as the same guys that have been helping with the resto also installed the AGR. They would not know to setup the box that way and the box I got from Summit had no instructions for installation - just an old AGR catalog.
In fact, I had to send the box back to Summit once for a replacement right after I got it as the thing had obviously been on someone else's car - the inlet threads were partially stripped and the box still had fluid in it - it was typical Summit - hilrious. Those guys actually do offer some pretty good deals, but by the time you get done shipping back the first two runs of "let's see if this guy notices these parts are used..." parts, then it's a wash between going to the local speed shop and paying regular price.
Best,
