hey i own a 68 chevelle SB, and see my problem is that because i have full length pipes, and my car is lowered, the front end exaust lays only a couple of inches off the ground, i was thinking about getting a shortie headers so i get a better cut off from the pipes and it goes straight to the top of the frame. So i was thinking, instead of messing with all these header problems, i could just put an airbag system on it like airride or something, and just have that, so i wont have all those problems, what do you guys think of recommend. i have a 383 stroker engine.

something that is extremely durable that i wont have to worry much about you know? while i'm away at college and stuff. Needs to be reliable and i wont have to fix much like broken bags and all that stuff

The airbags are kinda reliable, but you got maintain the compressor, tank, and air lines, much less find a place for them and hooking it all up. The price tag and labor is a bit to swallow.
It would be cheaper and better to get the shortie headers. Have the shop make up a short connector pipe to use the existing exhaust.
An alternative is weld up a couple of skid plates to protect the headers and make sure the flange bolts aren't at the lowest point.
