Brad, I could be wrong, but I don't think Pontiac had a 4.10 in 1966. Not sure about other models, but I believe the GTO's were 3.31. 3.55, 3.90 and 4.33. Just my thoughts.

Whats the stamping on the axle tube?

I can't find the axel tube numbers on this thing. The 4.10 may have been added at some unknown point. I checked it by the one full turn of the drum/ drive shaft turns technique. It is a 66 date coded narrow unit.

The tube stamping is on the backside of the passenger side axle tube.

List it for sale on the forums at www.performanceyears.com. If it's in good shape, $500 is not unreasonable. Folks will pay more if it has the right code stamped on the axle tube.

Good luck,

Scott

Do still have this rear end? Can I call or e-mail for more information?

The website ultimategto.com says that in 1966 the GTO 4.11 (not 4.10) was a dealer-installed option for a factory-installed 3.90 with a 3-speed or 4-speed close ratio manual transmission. The 10-bolts were 4.11 (37-9) rather than the 12-bolts' 4.10 (41-10). Richmond Gear offers a 37-9 gearset for the GM 10-bolts. One certainly can't tell the difference between a 4.10 and a 4.11 by counting revolutions!

Hope this helps!
