IMO, I'd consider Poly for all bushings, EXCEPT the upper rear control arms. New rubbers there... Although with 35 year-old bushings, even NEW rubber bushings should be nice.

I think new springs are a wise investment...

Poly in the front, rubber or rod ends in the rear. You should never under any circumstances use poly in a converging link suspension. The geometry requires that the bushing have quite a bit of compliancy both rotationally and laterally. Poly bushings might as well be solid as far as lateral give.

I thought the question was about springs. smile.gif

Old saggy springs and new lowering springs may provide about the same ride height, but the new lowering springs will have a higher spring rate (will rider firmer). If all you are concerned with is ride height, stick with the old springs. But if you are concerned with better handling and control, new stiffer, lower springs would be the choice. Overall I'm sure you'd be happier with the newer, firmer springs.

I had installed 2" Hotchkiss Lowering front springs on my rebuild. It actually sat higher than when I took it apart with the old stock BB springs. I then cut them and the suspension was rock hard. I have since replaced with blasted and painted originals and use a good shock to control wheel movement. If the roads you drive are really smooth and level, the aftermarket may be for you. Here in SE PA. the roads take a beating and a little softer suspension is needed.
