I just put in new carpet in my 68 Malibu, on top of dynamat, and I've noticed that the carpet is getting wet somehow. I had this problem before, and I fixed a leak in the firewall, and that seems to have taken care of that problem. This is different, I've put down rubber pads on the wet areas to try and see where the droplets are falling from, but the pads are dry, yet the carpet underneath is still getting wet. Is it possible that there is so much moisture in the air in the car that water is actually condensing on the inside and getting the carpet wet? Any suggestions? Thanks guys!

Not likely. Could be rust thru in the lower windshield area, could be clogged up drain in either of the kick panel areas, could be......... probably a half dozen other things.
There are drains in the kick panel area that collect debris and easily become stopped up. Junk from the cowl area slides down the back of the inner fenders and accumulates. To check, pull the kick panel and vent assembly. No matter what, clean it out while you are there.

Could also be a leaking heater core.

Are the kicks sealed well? They leak like a son of a gun if not. That's why there is so much sealant on them from the factory. A car I had did not have adequate kick sealer and the water came in whenever it was washed and soaked the carpet.

Thanks guys, I'm going to check that stuff asafp. I'm betting it's the kick panels... We'll see!
Thanks again:thumbsup:

Another thing, if there is a void in the seal between the heater box cover and the firewall H2O will leak down into the inside of the box and make it's way to the carpet also. But not as common as kicks.
