My '65 Malibu does not have the rocker molding on it and I would like to put it on the car. Being new to the '64/'65 model years I do not have much body/trim experience to draw from. I have noticed numerous ad's selling rocker moldings for '65 and some say for '65 Super Sports and others say for El Camino.
My question is this... Is there a difference between the SS and El Camino molding or would either one fit on my Malibu?
Thanks,
CG

The coupes, convertibles, wagons and El Caminos would have all used the same rocker moldings. Back in the day, the SS used a rocker molding with ribs in the top 1/3 of the molding and the only other rocker molding available (on the 300 Deluxe I believe) were just smooth. The '64, if I recall correctly, used an all smooth molding too but the '64 versions mated up with the wheel opening molding which the '65 versions do not.

Thanks Rich!
If you don't mind I will use you for future assistance as I see you are a "'65" kinda guy!

Greg,
My Malibu did not come with rocker molding, I believe all SS cars did come with it. It does add to the car. Are you removing the Malibu side trim or leaving it on?

Verle,
My side trim was already removed but I do have the wheel well molding on the car. I think the rocker moldings would just set the look of the car off!

Well sure, it would then pretty much look like an SS trimwise at least. ;)
The clean look of the SS is always a winner.

There are little indentations along the rockers - about 1/2 way down, to indicate where the mounting screws go - unless they have been filled in over the years.
