Decided to put new air shocks on the rear, need to be able to lift it a couple hairs, thats what is on there now also, there blown to hell though. I checked the KYB Book for rear air shocks and couldnt find them in edelbrock either. Part numbers or reccomendations would be extremely appreciated! As always, thanks.

I recommend spring spacers if u need lift. I'm looking to replace my air shocks with good quality real shocks soon.

Air shock are OK if you use them as intended. Don't try to lift the rear to the moon. You'll find that keeping them at the minimum pressure will raise the rear some.

Thats what I was getting at, using spacers to raise it, stiff springs to keep it somewhat decent and then letting the shocks do their job.

When I got my car the shocks were being used to keep the back up and it rode like crap.

Air bags inside the springs if you just need to lift it a hair.

I may not even need to, maybe 1/8" barely anything. Sometimes the tire rubs on the rear driver side. Theres air shocks on there now, whats left of them smile.gif Maybe just some KYB's I dont know, I dont really care anymore. Just something new,

Go with the Airlift kit 1000, it's under $70. About an hour install. Will last longer than air shocks and the ride is much better.

From their description:
Air Lift 1000 Load Assist spring kits can solve your suspension problems. These air springs are inflatable air cylinders made from tough polyurethane material, and fit inside your coil springs to add up to 1,000 lbs. of leveling capacity. Each cylinder has an inflation valve, so you can vary the air pressure to level your vehicle and compensate for uneven loads. Load assists reduce roll, sway, and bottoming out, and are available for most cars, trucks, and minivans with open coil springs. They come complete with air lines, fittings, brackets, and mounting hardware.

Thats a crazy looking little kit, I dont really want to suffer any ride. I dont think it would be worth it for what I have going on. I think I'll just shave a hair off the inner lip, and do it right. Just put a set of good KYB's on. The thing about this airlift kit, I think it works with the coils? I replaced my fronts, the rears on the other hand, are probably just as bad ive been affriad to look. If I replace the Shocks, and eventually the coils it will probably sit perfectly, these old coils are some saggy little bastards :D Anyway, thats my new plan. Unless you guys have better ideas. Thanks for all the help

If you want to raise the car the right way, purchase a pair of custom coils. I just ordered a pair for my 69 from Coil Spring Specialties in St. Mary's KS. Find them at coilsprings.com and talk to Bridget if you call them, she is great to deal with. I paid $120.00 for them and they came in about 1 and 1/2 weeks. You can order whatever custom height over stock that you want (up to a certain point). I orderd 2" over stock and the car sits up VERY nice.

And, never-never use air shocks to"lift" the car. It puts too much stress on the shock and mounts. If your ever driving the car hard and or get it wheel hopping, that is when the bellows in the air shocks may give out and drop quickly-scaring the heck out of you.
