i have installed 1/2 " shims under my front springs and they raised the car about1"

i would like to get another 1/2 to 1" higher and increase the spring resistance when the body drops about 1.5 inches without effecting ride comfort in the normal to down 1.5" zone (does that make sense?)

any ideas?
i was thinking coil over shocks, preferably adjustable, but i know nothing about them nor who makke the best ones

is this the proper solution or are ther other ideas

So you want something like progressive springs? Remain soft for part of the suspension travel then then stiffen up.

I don't know squat about coil overs, so I don't know if they can do what you want. Check out Global West, they make Coilovers for Chevelles.

Coilovers are an expensive way to do what you're trying to do,Rich. Contact Coil Spring Specialties at www.coilsprings.com/ (http://www.coilsprings.com/) and tell them what you need. I'm sure they can help.

yeah thats the idea
something to give a soft ride in the "normal" range but that stiffen up considerably when the headers/deep tranny pan are at risk of scraping

i thought that coilovers would actually be the cheap solution at this point after having already placed the shims

raising the car 1" has made an immense difference but im just not sure it is enough

actually the stance looks better than it did at "stock" (stock being that which new stock springs gave me) height
