Thought I would post a few more pictures of Mike's 70 LS6 as I took it apart. Other than a little surface rust in the cylinders and some stiff wrist pins it seems to be in great condition. The harmonic balancer took almost the whole week to get off, a bit of cold weather and quite a few torch cycles were needed to break it loose. I needed a 4' length of pipe plus doubled up wrenches to get enough leverage. It by far was the hardest balancer removal I have come across in my dealings but it is off with no damage. I broke two balancer removers though. We are checking the bores and all other clearances this week in hopes of only doing a rering and bearing job.

Yeah, I told mike I know of a hand writing expert that can tell if the worker who wrote that was in a good mood at the time. LOL :D

Rod, the original owner Phil thinks it had around 29K on it when he yanked it out and it's been sitting since.

I believe it only has 32,000 on it. I found some of the short bolts on three of the main caps to be under torque specs by quite a bit. They were all on the same side, guess the person putting it together messed up. The cam is going to get replaced, it had a few lobes that were suspect so we decided not to chance using it. The nylon timing gear will get replaced also, I was amazed they used that on the LS6.

Turns out that the stock bores are too far off so we are going .030 over with new speed pro forged replacement pistons. It should be like brand new again real soon.
