I know it has been covered, but what is the verdict on carpet ACC or TRIM PARTS?

From what I can tell it's a tie. I just installed Trim Parts in my '70 and it fits great everywhere, except infront of the console.

I fhat's the only fit problem you had with Trim Parts's carpet then I would say they are the clear winner. The ACC stuff seems to be getting even worse than it's usual crappy fit.

I was at a buddy's house late this afternoon working on the new ACC carpet he is putting in his '72 Cutlass....talk about bad fit. Not just the tunnel either.

I would call Trim Parts, ask them to discuss how well their's fits and as soon as you get it at least get it laid out in the car and take a quick look....that way you can at least make sure there are no big, glaring problems like the ACC stuff tends to have. If it's fine, box it back up or store it til you are ready to install it.

I wish my buddy had done this when he bought his ACC carpet a few months back.

Trim Parts carpet is made in the USA, just bought some for the Nova and will be installing it next week.

ACC carpets are Made in the USA also so that's hardly a guarantee of anything on their carpet sets.

My point was to find out IF TRIM PARTS ACTUALLY MAKES AND/OR MOLDS the carpet themselves, using their own tooling/dies. If you are just getting ACC made carpet in a Trim Parts box then expect the same quality/fit problems as buying ACC-labeled sets. It seems like people may have been having better fit and luck with Trim Parts carpet so it's worth a shot.

My buddy with a 69 Dart GTS got some ACC carpets That DID NOT FIT IN ANY WAY!!!!
We tried a steamer but they were just too far out of shape to do anything with. The guy that sold them would not take them back as we had steamed them!!!! My friend bought this car new and is very particular about fit & finish. He threw the carpets in the dumpster& put the original worn ones back. I have ACC carpets in my 64 SS convt. . They don't fit either, but I didn't do the install- so I don't know who did what. I want new carpets too but I don't have a budget that allows me to throw stuff out, so I don't know what to say (or do) I have seen lots of negative feedback on repro parts in general & I agree with the guys that say we should boycott this crap & COMPLAIN to the vendors !
I was in the Liquor biz before retirement & if we had a customer complaint we made it right- no matter what. This way the customer would feel that they were treated fairly & give us the repeat business.

Hey Guys,
I just did an ACC carpet last month and the fit was very good. The front of the trans tunnel was a little big but not bad. I left the carpet lay in the basement by the wood stove for a couple weeks and no problem. Even around the counsel area the fit was good. It went down over Dyna-mat.
