Replacing the upper ball joints got new ones from susepnsion.com. There is a little sleve that came sepreate wiht the ball joint that fits over it, factory BJs had this too. I believe your supposed to put it on top but it wont fit. Am I supposed to hammer it in? The other way I see to do it is to put the BJ through and the sleeve on the bottom and put the bolts through. But how GM has it is on top. So do I hammer it through the control arm on top or on the bottom?

Put the sleeve on the bottom and the ball joint itself through the top. One of mine that I just removed on my 70 was aftermarket, and that was how it came off.

The ball joint goes on top of the control arm , the plate retains the grease boot and goes on from under the control arm, then they get bolted together.Thats the way Moog and most all aftermarket BJ's go on. There should have been a folded up instuction sheet that came in the box with the parts.
Justin, I just found out today that I type 13 WPM

FYI- If your are using Mcquay Norris ball joints the bolt holes will not line up. Moog & TRW will.
