I'm going to put 69/70 disc brakes (because I have 'em already) on my '65 wagon. Are the ball joints any different?
I think the ball joints are the same regardless of the year, regardless of disc or drum brake spindles, but when I modified my '69 C10 to '71 disc brakes I had to order '71 ball joints because the truck disc brake spindles use a larger ball joint stud than the drum brake spindle.
TIA.

Hi Rich,
I've been watching your wagon progress, as I'm sure a lot of the crew have. My 64 2dr is next in line after my 64 EL Camino (and probably the ol' ladies 63 NovaSS). I'll have to post a pic or two.
I mounted 72 Cutlass discs on my 64 with no changes at all. Hope this helps....

Cam So in other words, you used the '64 control arms with '64 style ball joints? You simply pulled the entire drum brake steering knuckle/spindle/brake assembly and replaced it with a later model a-body steering knuckle/spindle/brake assembly?

Good deal. Thanks for the info. I thought it was that simple but I hate allocating time in the garage to work on things only to find I don't have all the tools and/or parts on hand to get the job done.

Hey Rich,
I'll second what Cam said. I put disc spindles from a 70 on my 66 & used front end components for a 66 & brake components for a 70. Everything worked fine except for the brake hoses - they weren't long enough.
