I am in the process of shifting from a Powerglide to a 200-4R. My car is a 67 column shift and I am sure that the detent plate in the column needs to be modified for the extra gears. I have searched unsuccessfully and can't find any info. Anyone done this or have some info on what needs to be done? I tried Shiftworks but they don't seem to have a clue.

I stuck a 700R in my 70 Colum shift driver. There is "" NO "" detent built in to the colum it is in the tranny. Remove the rod from the tranny and the colum leaver will move around like a limp whatever.
On my 70, The dash quadrant reads -- D--L2--L1 and I pull it down one more and the red needle is way down to the right, dang near not visible. I remove the 350-T shifter from the 350 bolted it on the 700 attached the stock 70 linkage. Everything works just like it has a 350 T except when you start out in " D " It is like my silverado in " D " Your in overdrive just drive on, If you pull it down to L2 you are now locked in third and it will not go into overdrive just like your new G.M.
What positions the RED needle on the quadrant are the " Clicks : on the transmission NOT the colum.
If I can help in any way just ask, My 700 has been in my driver since 03 and over 30.000 miles no problems.

67 and earlier cars still had the detents in the column as well as the trans.
You'll have to get into the column and mod the detent plate.

I put a TH350 in my '65. the detents are on the column that year. it was kind of strange. they did not line up right. not a problem for me, but if other people drove my car, they would find themself in gear when they thought they were in neutral and could not really find reverse etc. for me, I just counted how many clicks and got to know where the needle was going to be for the desired gear. I solved it by getting rid of that column and putting a TKO600 in it. no question about which gear I am in now!

Thanks guys for the reply. My problem is my column shifter doesnt move
at all passed Drive. It doesnt even seem to budge after that like there's no grooves for the other shifts. I put in a rebuilt T400 from a PG. I would understand them not linning up. All I would have to do is count the clicks, but the shifter just stops at Drive  Thanks in advance

These guys may be able to help you. http://www.shiftworks.com/ Their kit worked for my 70 going from TH-400 to 2004R. Plate cable etc all came in the kit.
