: These heads good for anything at all? PICS NOW

I have a pair of 14092359 heads off a 366 or 427 tall block that were rebuilt for propane. They never been fired but I was just moving them around again for the umpteenth hundreth time wondering what the heck I am going to do with them. I don't know the valve size but they are tiny. I was wondering if they would make a good head for a tow vehicle or something. They are marked High Perf but they sure as heck arn't with these valves!

Terry,

Post a pic of the chambers and the ports.
Some of these I hear are like 781 and 049s, just made with small valves for trucks.
Others are more like Peanut Port heads.

George(or anyone else), wouldn't those heads require a fair amount of machining to match a std. deck height block? May be good candidates for a tall deck 502" block or an aftermarket offering if that's the case.

They should have normal port locations. Operative word is "should"
IIRC, the truck intakes are wider and take up the slack much as guys run spacers for regular intakes to work. At least this is my recollection based on some old race motors my friends had.

I will try and do that tomorrow George. Every time I try to download pictures from my camera to the computer it seems I download every damn picture on there. It would be nice to sell or trade these to someone as is because they are ready to go.

Gotcha. I just wondered b/c it seems from what I've read, once the tall deck parts are put into an equation, prices go astronomical and are obviously offered from less vendors. IIRC custom headers are also needed in many cases.

Correct, tall deck does cause head/valve cover to booster issues, regular headers do not fit, etc etc. But this is due to the extra ht of the block/cylinder, not head shape or location of the port on the head. All this should be same-same.

Just me, for a full body street car with all the stuff under the hood, no way would I try.
Race car or tube chassis....sure.

I agree, that's why I would go boosted application vs. more cubes on a std. deck height....less fitment problems there and it seems the cost offset is about the same or less to the boosted app. choice.

The way I understood it is the heads are a direct bolt on to any other big block and George is correct that the intake makes up the difference.

back to topic...
the heads simply look like good heads with small valves.
Wonder what Doc or Vortecpro has to say
