We have a 65 chevelle that we drag race and we have a 9" X 29.5" tire under the car. We need to lift the rear of the car to get more room. Does anybody know if a spring from the 67-72 BB chevelle cars will work. If not why??

Clint if you have a 65 rear end the spring pad on the rear is different. The 64-66 use a flat bolt down mount and the 67-72 the spring sits on a raised boss that holds it in place.

67-72 coil is a pig tail top and bottom the 64-66 is a open coil top and pigtail bottom. = Square peg round hole

So if you're putting a 64-66 rear end under a 68-72 velle which springs do you use and why? I need this info please.

You use the springs that match the year of the body so the top coil fits the top retainer or pocket correctly. You will need to get or fabricate a spring retaining clamp for the bottom coil when you use an early rear in a 67+ car.

Clint,
Ditto to all the above. If you need a stock spring to raise up the rear of the 65 use a station wagon rear spring.
