Fellas -

Going to ditch the ugly aftermarket radio in my 66 SS and would like to do a radio delete.

I see that radio deletes are sold - unfinished (see attached) - on eBay, here at http://www.chevelles.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=35549&cat=72 and also at http://mysite.verizon.net/msn7c0vo/redvenomrepros2005/id10.html

Says it is chromable or can be painted. Just wondering what y'all have done - paint it (argent?), chromed it, or had it vacuum metalized? Not sure if the attached pic is from an original one or not; looks gold in the pic, but guy who posted it originally said that was just the lighting.

Also assume that the above listed websites are the only place to find these unless you buy an original. Saw that The Parts Place had some but think they only listed 68-69.

Thanks!

Scott

one thing a radio was never standard so you can't delete them. it was just a non radio car or the box was never checked to order a radio from new

IMO if in your budget get it finished like the original it just wont look right if rest of your interior original ...... chrome raised edging with black accent and argent center area with chevelle script trimmed in chrome ad black like your pic....for some reason the originals over time the chrome/ argent area turned goldish ......I always thought from the cigarette smoke ??

I had my original radio delete plate redone ... OK radio block off plate

Hey guys, I have this plate and would like some help to identify what it is. It fits my 67 Chevelle radio opening fine, but it is all metal unlike the ones here?

Thanks!

the all metal one shown is for the Chevelle 300 or 300 deluxe models. As soon as you reached the Malibu or SuperSport trim level you got the plastic molded one.

Thanks Tom. I parted out a 67 300 car about 15 years ago, so that explains where it came from.
