I just finished installing a set of SSM lift bars. The right side went in real easy but the left side was a nightmare. Honestly I really can't tell much of a diferance at all in traction now. I have street tires on 255/60 15 radials. Do these things only "really" work with slicks, or what? I have competion engineering adjustable shocks all the way around the car. 90/10 in front and 50/50 in back. The car handels a lot better with these things on, A lot better. I uderstand that is because they eliminated the rubber bushings. I am looking for adice on set up or anything about these things I should know. Thanks

Ryan, I put a set on my '67 and had no problems with installation at all. These are not the magic traction potion. They're designed to eliminate wheelhop as well as increase bite by using the axle twist to pull down on the frame. It moves the virtual center forward, theoretically giving better traction. The only thing you really have to be careful to do is remember to set the pinion angle, drill the bar and put in the bolt to hold it there. I just thought they look a lot better than "bumper bars" and not as obvious as ladders.

It's all in the pinion angle. Just bolting them on will prevent wheel hop, but to improve traction you need the proper pinion angle. On a street car I would recommend no more than 5 degrees nose down.
