I'm searching for a source for the sash inner filler on a 65 door window. Some people call it a glass setting gasket. I think it's only on the 65's. It is only on the inside sash. It has a thicker lip that hangs over the metal sash (see photo below) and that's what makes it unique. I've contacted several suppliers and most say it's not available. Any ideas? Thanks.

Swap meet, salvage yard, parts car or with luck, someone here.

Now that everyone is back from the holidays, anybody out there with a suggestion on a source for the inner sash filler for a 65?

Mike,

How fast do you need it?
I may have an extra but it will be a while before I can get to it.

They are not reproduced. Your best bet is to find them from a parts car or in a salvage yard. You can use "fat back" which you can get from an auto glass shop to provide the proper cushion between the metal sash and the glass, but that will be just flat strips of really soft rubber and won't have the lip at the top. That lip is important since that is what seals against he weatherstips at the top of the door shell and seals out wind and wetness.

Everytime I part a car or visit the junkyard I look for spares.

Verle, I'm putting the car together now and could use the parts within the next month. Thanks.

Rich, I've got some generic flat stock for the outside sash filler from the local auto glass shop. As you point out, the inner filler has the lip that is important for sealing the inside glass against the inner door panel.

I've been calling around to salvage yards. Not much luck yet. Hemmings might be my next step.

Thanks for the input guys.

Finally found the inner sash filler at a GM salvage yard about two hours from my house. Scrounged through about 100 doors there. Most fillers were cracked or brittle. Found an identical pair in good condition on doors from a '65 Skylark hardtop. Apparently this sash filler design was only used on '65 A-body hardtop models. Funny that this simple, common-looking part has been the most difficult part to find during my restoration.
