: Wiring from battery question

In my '69 Chevelle, there are two wires connected to the positive battery terminal. One wire runs directly to the alternator, and the other runs under the battery and joins the harness for the headlights, with a fuse block inbetween. It all looks stock, but may not be.

Is that wire supplying the electricity for the accessories? Why the fuse block?

Thanks!

That wire supplies power for everything but the starter. The alternator is not stock as it originally went to the "main splice".
