I purchased new front sway bar mounting brackets and bushings but I think I got the wrong ones. Is this how they are supposed to look? The bushing appears to be too big for the bracket or will it be forced down when I tighten the bolts?

Bracket Part #DBB-157

Bushing part #DMG-683 (69-72 all "SS" F-41)
How do I know if my front end is F-41?

Ordered from Ground Up

That's normal. The bushing will be compressed when you install it. If you notice, the bolts that hold it on are kinda long. F41 suspension cars will have a 1 1/4" front sway bar.

George,
Did you verify the diameter of your sway bar prior to ordering? If you did, and the OPG catalog indicated the this is the correct bushing for that diameter, than Tom's statement about the bushing compressing is right on. I believe, however, that front sway bars came in a number of sizes (putting aside the F-41 discussion for now), that's why I bring up the question of measuring first.
Good luck!
Tom

The non F41 sway bar was 15/16" in diameter, not a huge difference, but noticeable by the eye and enough to warrant a different bushing. The difference in the bushing will be in the cutout for the bar, not in the actual size of the bushing. So far every GM car I have installed sway bar bushings on, have installed like that.

That happens when you mess around with G bodies too much Dave :clonk: They have 1 1/4" bars and the F bodies have hollow 36 MM bars :D

FWIW, I have an F40 suspension and it's 15/16". Can't wait for my new Hellwig bars in month!

If I measured it correct. I measured it at 1 3/16" it could be 1 1/4" but to me it looked like 1 3/16. I've attached a pic so you can see. Does that gap look right to you guys?
