I'm putting together a repop complete dash kit for my friends 70 clone SS chevelle. I would like to test the dash lights before installing it into the car. Can anyone tell me how I could do this without burning something up. I have some ideas but have not tried yet. I have searched the site with no luck. Any help would be appreciated. This is a great site and I thank all who have helped me in the past.

Carl, this pic from Elree Colby, a Team Chevelle electrical guru, should help. I would wire up a 12V power supply and connect them to the appropriate pins on the cluster.

I believe this a for a SS gauge cluster, not a sweep dash.

Elree has not posted since Sept., so maybe someone else will confirm.

I place new 194LL bulbs in my black plastic bulb sockets, after the sockets got a good cleaning. Then I took a 9V battery and to 8" long 18awg. leads and touched the brass contacts of the bulb sockets to test the new bulbs.

I had about a 50% fall out of non working lights. So the lights that did not work, I pulled the bulb out of the socket and bent the bulb contacts in more and retested untill all worked.

I didn't have to be concerned about the printed circut board being good, as it was a unused GM nos PCB.
