: Drum spindle wear

I have drum spindles on my '64 Malibu and I'm a concerned about wear on the shaft where the inner hub bearing rides; I'm able to feel a slight ridge of maybe a few thousandths on the bottom of the shafts. It looks as though the race spun on the shaft causing the wear. I'd like to reuse the spindles and just replace the hub bearings because I'm going w/the Touring Classics C5 brakes; their caliper brackets are designed to reuse the stock drum brake spindles/hubs.

Is this wear excessive enough to warrant new spindles, or can they be cleaned up w/some ultra-fine emory cloth? If not, does anyone know of a vendor that sells replacement non-dropped drum spindles? I haven't been able to find any.

Drum brake spindles are easy to find, but no body usually bothers to sell 'em.

Check local swap meet.

Are you sure that it's not where the oil seal rides??
