i'm OK at this sort of thing, certainly not near as good as a lot of you guys so please bear with me.

- what's the best kit? i see about a zillion of them available and have no idea which one to buy
- i'd like to just keep the wheel and tire combo i have right now...15" American Racing wheels...does that even matter?
- anybody that's done it recently, are there decent instructions with the kit? i saw one kit on ebay that said they had no instructions with them at all. like i said, i'm OK at this stuff but i follow instructions like a mofo, so as long as i have clear instructions i can do stuff
- should i do front only? or both front and rear?
- i eventually will be replacing the anemic small block with a pretty decent motor...are vacuum considerations really important for power brakes? how do i deal with all of that if so?

thanks, guys, in advance for your help. anything else important i'm forgetting?

I used their kit on 2 of my cars. The kits were awesome and the people I dealt with in Customer Service were second to none.

If you are going with a big block later with lots of HP and little vacuum, go with a hydro boost setup. Runs off your Power Steering pump. No matter how big the cam and how much vacuum you don't have, they will always work.

ran CPP kit with dropped spindles on my 69 Camaro...liked the kit..gotta make sure you have disc brake wheels...I had issues with 15x7 rally wheels hitting steering arm..had to have new wheels made..15x6
with 3.5 back spacing will use CPP again..looking at doing my 66 SS Chevyll brakes and suspenion upgrades and 68 Malibu 2 dr with spindle
and front brakes GOOD LUCK J

The disc to drum conversion at the wheel is as easy as replacing a spindle. The stuff to watch for -- brake hoses, hardware, converting the distribution block to a proportioning valve, and new brake lines. I made my own kit, and it was the little stuff that took extra time and trips to the store.

I used "the right stuff detailing' kit and let me just say,, stick with their FRONT disk conversion and forget about the rear disk kit. The RightStuff's rear kit used the caliper design from the Caddy El-dorado and it is WORTHLESS. The worst braking system GM ever used, and was only used for a couple of years because even they found how bad it is. The front kit,, FINE. But stick with the drums on the rear or go to a 'real' rear kit like those offered from Baer. Quality get expensive real fast when your talking brake conversion kits.
