OK, so my chevelle is a non power, 4 wheel drum car. I have had this problem maybe 3-4 times including this time now. When bleeding the brakes, everything is fine...I start with the right rear, brkae fluid will shoot out like 1.5 feet when bleeding...move on to the left rear, same thing, so those are fine. Then i move to the passenger side front, everything is working fine, it is bleeding good. Then all of a sudden NOTHING! The peddle goes to the floor... (i have someone pushing on the brakes, while im under the car)...ZERO pressure, nothing squirts out when bleeding...WTF is going on, this has happened like 3 times. I have been driving my car for the last 3 months with really spongy, half @$$ bleed brakes because i have been afraid this problem would come back and haunt me!!   Tonight i decided (me and my dad) to bleed the brakes and try and clean all the old brake fluid out at the same time. The rear brakes worked fine, but then the front went and f'd up on me.........i THINK that it has only happened on the fronts...Can anyone please help? ANY suggestions will be REALLY appreciated!!!! thasnkjs

I'm thinking it is too....do you think it could be that i didnt bench bleed it good enough? I replaced it, its a rebuilt MC, but it was my first time doing it, and maybe i didnt bench bleed it well enough...I took off one of the lines from the master cylinder and pumped the brakes, should fluid spit of it? because none did....thanks for help p.s it was the front resivoir line i took off, if that makes a difference graemlins/beers.gif

Sounds like your pushrod lenth is not correct.

Take off the master cyl and try bench bleeding iyt and make sure you get fluid out of both lines if you do than your stoke is to short.

If it has an ajustable rod use that if not you may have to shim your master/ booster

not tryin to be funny or rude or anything, but are you running out of fluid in the mc when you git to the front brakes? you need to keep it topped off during bleeding process... just a thought

this does sound like the rod could be a little long
try shortening the rod
