My new 454 came with all the accessories & brackets out of the 1980 1ton truck it was in.

The truck had hydroboost. Last night i pulled the pump out to drain it and clean it up for storage, and i noticed that its definitely different than the other pumps i've seen.

1st it has an extra return hose nipple sticking out- one from the back and one from the side.
2nd the body is a little bigger
3rd when you pull the cap- there is a funny rubber washer in there that has to be pulled out through the throat to get the dipstick in or out.

Questions...
Is this pump going to be ok to run with our standard power steering boxes? Wondered if since it was hydroboost had extra pressure or anything.
I know its setup for the later style O-ring lines, I plan on swapping in a GJC box anyway, so will just get 80's monte carlo lines for it.

Can i cut the 2nd return line nipple off and weld it shut so it doesn't look like it was there w/o hurting the pump internals? (ie is there a way to remove the pump from the tank?) or should i just buy a new pump (at least i'll already have the brackets & pulley)

THanks-
Ben

Tell ya what, Ben

You send me that old pump, And I'll send you a brand new(rebuilt) pump.
This pump has a tapered shaft/key for the older pulleys

Durex ---- # 7018

Will fit a BB using the truck mounts

Or, I can send the pump I just took off my 59----BBC pump to use with the truck mounts
As I just put a GM serpintine on my 454. This pump uses the press-on pulley. But I have removed the pressure fitting to use on the 90s truck pump I am using. ( I do have the fitting for the o-ring hose I can put on)

I'm thinking of Hydro boost in the future for the 59----teeny tiney 7" booster just don't have the balls to stop that tank of a 59.

At the very least----I'd swap ya the resevoirs.
