: help with some door panels

I got a really good deal on some original door panels in pretty good shape, the only issue I see with them is that on the bottom & maybe about 1/3 the way up the sides, the vinyl has come off of the backing panel & has sort of unwrapped from around the back side towards the front I guess you'd say. Now I understand that using a heat gun on the vinyl will make it more pliable (it's still soft & pliable now) & easier to wrap back around the panel, but what do I use to re-attach it to the back side of the cardboardy panel? Thanks, Matt

get some contact cement or go to a auto parts store and see what 3M glue they have for it like 8088 or something along that line

Yeah, get the 3M super trim adhesive spray. Mask off the area, with the loose area taped back so you can spray both the back of the vinyl & the front of the backing panel. Let it sit for about 5 min, the roll/work the vinyl down on the backing. It's contact cement, so you only get one try!!
Then mask the same way for a strip along the bottom of the back of the backing panel and pull and stick the vinyl to that.
Good as new (actually better than new, this time it'll stay!)

Is this going to be an instant stick, or will I have to use clamps on it? I've seen small staples used before, will these hold enough while the cement is drying?

if the door panel is off use cloths pins to clamp it fast. and you will need to clamp it together like any other glue :beers:
